Premise

The availability of high-resolution displays in a thin, lightweight form factor opens up a variety of novel possibilities for use in the home. This application was a creative exercise using surplus parts to explore potential novel use-cases.

Technological Requirements

Present a novel spin of common furniture and high-resolution displays.

Challenges

Though light, the display on hand had non-negligible mass and the table had to be load-bearing. Additionally, the package had to be easily controlled in order to be used.

End Result

The TV table was built using parts on hand. It was driven by a laptop running Windows 8™ , and thus interoperable with Wi-Fi - allowing it to be controlled remotely via smartphone. A Microsoft Kinect ® was also added to allow for future gesture control.
